SAP/R3 goes live at MIASCOR Ground Handling

Last October 1, MIASCOR Ground Handling saw SAP/R3 going live for its Finance and Treasury offices.  Headed by its Project Manager Dofanze Detaunan, the Project team, under the guidance of SAP's implementing consultants from SSIP Asia, implemented three modules of the SAP/R3 system, namely:   Financials(FI), Cost Controlling (CO) and Cash Management under the Treasury (TR) module.

Heralded a soft launch, the date commemorates Citadel Holdings'  first major I/T implementation in one of its major affiliate.  The implementation process started promptly in February 1999, with the training of its Project Team members and the commissioning of CHI's Data Center at the MIASCOR Cargo Center.

Acquired at a cost of more than Php10M, the system  has resulted in some business re-engineering effort in the finance and treasury offices of MIASCOR.

The system is expected to benefit the finance departments of our affiliates in terms of faster processing times of billing and invoices, real-time posting to the General Ledger, more focused monitoring of receivables and overall process efficiency that will translate to fewer labor-intensive operations.  That latter will be felt in allowing our affiliates to process  more transactions (i.e. more business) at either the same or lower number of staff positions.

The Project Team & Consultants

Headed by Dofanz. the SAP Project Team for FI/CO/TR consists of the following CPAs: Joy Santarin, Delia Mangosong, Ed Pineda and Gilbert Ranola; and MIS staffers: John Henry Lebumfacil, Angga Manubay, Arlene Zamudio and Aileen Mutuc.

The project team were ably assited by SSIP Asia SAP consultants, Jaynel Sulangi, JL Diaz and Fed Brillantes.  On hand for the technical set-up of the SAP computers at the Data Center are Engineers Vic de Leon and Eric Lucero.

Hardware Configuration

The system's central servers at the Data Center are two of IBM's top of the line Netfinity7000 servers in state-of-art cluster configuration.  Another  DELL top-of-the-line Poweredge6300 acts as the systems development server to be used as each affiliate is configured to meet their respective business process requirements.

Both brands use dual processor Pentium II 400 Xeon processors with 1 Gbyte of memory each.   Total storage capacity currently stands at about 136 Gbytes.

Next Step

Starting October 1, MIASCOR goes live with SAP/R3 for its daily financial and treasury transactions.  By the end of October, complete data migration for its January to September data will have been finished and the company can now start year-to-date reporting.

The next company to be cutover to SAP/R3 is Rapid Airfreight.  The team envisions to have the major companies like Mlog, Airmac, Transpac and OUI going live within the next 18 months.  During this time, consolidation transaction at Citadel is scheduled to be implemented as well.
